The Water Sector Reforms Communication Strategy implementation Committee was taken through an induction on Water Sector Reforms and Transition in Naivasha.
The 3 day (13-17th October 2020) workshop was purposed at increasing the committee member’s knowledge on water reforms progress to date, overall reforms process, implementation arrangements, institutional reforms plan and to equip the members with skills necessary to enable them accomplish their task in communicating Water Sector Reforms.
The team is expected to among other tasks to improve Communication between the different stakeholders in the Water, Sanitation and Irrigation sectors, increase awareness and support the sector reforms operations, and enhance internal and external capacity in communications.
The committee which was appointed by the Principal Secretary was taken through the process, arrangements, legal timelines, and the transition plans as outlined in different strategies. The water act 2016 and National water policy were other key areas that the members were taken through giving more detail on the changes and unbundled mandates of the water sector institutions and noting that they are the main key references.
“We need to make sure we communicate information that can be relied on by all our stakeholders” said Mr Nyakeri who is the team leader of the Communications implementations Committee.
The team is expected to start the implementation process immediately.
