The Water Secretary, Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation, Eng. SAO Alima has urged the PIU team members to move hastily with the dissemination of the Water Sector Reforms.
Speaking while chairing the Water Sector Reform Project Implementation Unit (WSR-PIU) today, the Water Secretary outlined the purpose of the meeting as to lay grounds for the preparation of the incoming leadership. He urged the WSR-PIU to prepare adequately in order to appraise the incoming leadership of the ongoing reforms in the Water Sector.
Eng Alima called on the team to analyze the outcomes of the previous dissemination exercise that was conducted in Mombasa in June 2022. This he said, will form the basis to better future similar exercises.
He rooted for the need to evaluate and restructure how the PIU works and gear up the momentum.
The Water Secretary directed the legal team to analyze sections 68 and 69 of the Water Act with a view of giving a forward on the establishment of the Joint Authorities (JAs) and operations of the Water works development Authorities (WWDAs).
On the regulations, he called upon the legal team to move with speed and prepare adequately for publishing and tabling of the Water Amendments once the parliamentary and Senate Committee are set up.
In attendance were; Director Administration, Theresa Wasike, Director National Water Resources D. T. Mogusu, among other Water Sector Reform Project Implementation Unit (WSR-PIU) members.
