The Cabinet Secretary Water, Sanitation and Irrigation Madam Sicily Kariuki today presided over the launch of Water and Irrigation Policies at Maji House before resigning to venture into politics. Today was the last day for those seeking elective posts to vacate public office as provided for by law.
The instruments launched include National Water policy, National Irrigation policy 2017, National Water Resources Strategy (2020-2025), Guidelines for Promotion, Development and Management of Irrigation in Kenya, Water Services Regulations, 2021 and National Water Sanitation Strategy (2020-2025). Speaking after the launch, the CS expressed her optimism that the instruments will guide the Ministry in the provision of better services to all Kenyans.
In terms of working environment at Maji House and sector institutions, the CS expressed her satisfaction and urged top Ministry leadership to embrace collegiality approach of servant leadership. Staff who got the opportunity to speak, showered words of praise to the CS and prayed for her career endeavor into active politics. While thanking the Ministry staff and CEOs of sector institutions, the CS urged them to continue working as a team that aims to win the confidence of the common Mwananchi.
The CS was flanked by the Chief Administrative Secretary Dr. Andrew Tuimur, CBS, Water Secretary Eng SAO Alima, Irrigation Secretary Mr. Aboud Moeva, Ag. Secretary Administration Ms Theresa Wasike, Heads of Directorates, Heads of Sections and Staff working in Maji House.
