The Ministry of Water, Sanitation and Irrigation has embarked on the sensitization and dissemination exercise of the National Water Policy of 2021, Water Services Regulations 2021, National Water Resources Regulations 2021, National Water Harvesting and Storage Regulations 2021, the National Water Services Strategy (2021-2025), the National Water Harvesting & Storage Strategy (2021-2025), and the Water Resources Strategy (2021-2025).
The dissemination and sensitization workshop was officially opened by Director of Administration Ms Theresa Wasike representing the Chief Administrative Dr. Andrew K. Tuimur in Mombasa County. On his behalf, the Director Administration thanked the Water Sector Reforms Project Implementation unit for their concerted efforts that have made it possible for the realization of the policy, three regulations and three strategies that will govern the sector.
This workshop marks part of the implementation of the Water Policy, the three sector regulations and the three sector strategies that will go along in the transformation of the sector in line with the Kenya Constitution 2010 and the Water Act 2016.
In attendance were; Mr. Dan Mogusu, Director Water Resource Management, Eng. Mary Wamaitha, Director, Water & Sanitation Development, Mr Martin Anyange, CEC Kwale, Eng. David Kanui representing Coast Water Works Development Authority, Mr. Samuel Ochieng’ representing County Government of Mombasa, Mr. Hussein Mwanjirani, Kashani Water CBO, Malesi Shivaji, CEO, Kenya Water Sector Networks (KEWASNET), PIU members among other participants.
